October 3, 2008

Since September, I have noticed an increase in demand for highly competent people. This is across the board of skills. From CXO down to more jr. level Engineers. The Valley is extremely competitive for top teir talent.

Currently, we have clients in need of strong Web Application Engineers, QA, QA lead. Someone w/ strong AJAX and Python.

If you consider yourself in the top 10 percentile, then please apply at tess.rogers@gmail.com

www.thefunded.com is a site that rates VCs. Wow. Now there is a site that gives you ratings and opinions of many of the VCs. I recently checked it out and found it to be insightful and will recommend all my buddies to review the site before getting funding or considering a startup. VCs partners sit on boards and have a definite impact on several companies’ performance. This is especially the case at the startup phase.

Your time is very valuable and the team makes the company. Be careful and understand who is navigating the course. It is not just the CEO. The board plays an important role and you must know who those players are prior to joining the company.

www.thefunded.com is a great site and a site I recommend people review prior to joining a startup.

Web20hire is on fire with curling edge technical positions for the most premier companies in the Valley. If you are a hot shot developer in the web2.0 industry, please send your information to us at hire@web20hire.com. We would love to offer top choice opportunities to you.

I just read an interesting article from “asktheheadhunter.com” I really believe hiring managers and executives should read it because it will give them awareness of hiring practices that are NOT working for them.

It is common sense but sometimes when you are focused on achieving the results of hiring top tier people you tend to forget your manners.

The article is title “how employers poison their well” Being rude and not treating applicants with courtesy will absolutely hurt your hiring in the future. Unfortunately in the Valley, I think companies get very caught up in just getting the right people on board that they forget their manners and treat non-qualified candidates poorly. Guess what, they have friends that maybe qualified and the will not recommend them to your company.
The first impression is the most important.

Being conscience of people’s time is a very important rule of thumb. Realizing your time is no more valuable than theirs is something to be mindful of when you are in hiring mode.

I know many companies have soured reputations due to the lack of tact with applicants.

If you want to compete and get highly qualified people on board, treat them like you would like to be treated yourself. It will serve you in the future.

Don’t poison your well. It can have a major impact on your company.
